Seeking paintings and installations by Leon Tarasewicz. Direct purchase from private owners.
Contact meLeon Tarasewicz (b. 1957) — one of the most important Polish abstract artists, master of color and space.
Leon Tarasewicz was born on March 20, 1957, in Waliły near Białystok. Growing up in Podlasie — a landscape of plains, marshes and sky — that landscape had a decisive influence on his painting. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Rajmund Ziemski.
Tarasewicz is above all an artist of color. His painting does not describe reality but creates it — from layers of color, rhythm and light. Monumental, large-format works with intense color combinations brought him recognition not only in Poland but also in Europe and the United States.
In his work, expansion is paramount — paintings grow across walls, onto floors, into entire rooms. Tarasewicz's painting installations transform the gallery space into a painted environment into which the viewer enters and becomes a part.
Tarasewicz teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He has participated in the Venice Biennale, exhibited at Museum Ludwig in Cologne, Serpentine Gallery in London, and dozens of other prestigious institutions. His works are held in the National Museum in Warsaw, the Museum of Art in Łódź and collections worldwide.
